The difference between SOE coffee and blended coffee

The difference between SOE coffee and blended coffee

You must see this “SOE”offering beautifully lettered on the chalk board at your local coffee shop. Or maybe you’ve seen it being touted on Instagram.

What is SOE ?

SOE means Single Origin Coffee. It refers to coffee made from the same place, which can be a country, region, farm or estate. Single Origin Coffee emphasizes the traceability of coffee beans, which can be traced back to the specific origin or even the estate, rather than referring to a single variety of coffee beans. There is no doubt that the YAHABILI Yunnan coffee beans are the SOE.

The opposite of SOE  > Blend Coffee

Blend Coffee is usually used in Italian coffee, and is a comprehensive coffee that is mixed and roasted by a roaster who selects different coffees from different places and flavors.

The difference of Single Origin Coffee vs Blend Coffee

To further distinguish between single origin coffees and blends, single origins are seasonal and have limited availability since they can’t be produced in extremely large quantities. Blends, on the other hand, are available year-round because they combine different types of beans and are more widely produced.
While the availability is limited, single origin coffees are featured when they are at their peak flavor, providing a truly unique and enjoyable tasting experience.

Quality and Characteristics

Single origin coffee is favored by coffee lovers for its unique flavor and high quality. They provide a way to directly experience the terroir conditions and coffee flavors of a particular place.while a blend combines the elements of various beans. Generally speaking, single origin coffees are usually bolder with a more robust and exotic taste. Coffee blends tend to be more balanced since the variety of beans complement one another.
